VW_OwneR_85 2 Posted May 5, 2015 its leaking from the drain tubes right? idd use some type of sealant on the male end of your drains {before pushing the drain hose on it} if you havent already done so, then finish off with a cable tie around the drain hose end pulling tight with pliers acting like a jubilee clip should be good! ;)

Its ABOVE the drain channels - at the corners. Pics says 1000 words... Leaking front driver side where that corner is next to drain outlet BUT OUTSIDE the drain channels And here (rear passenger behind driver) Again on the curve (next to drain outlet, where the HOLE is above the drain outlet) Again OUTSIDE the drain channels Now I understand when water leaks thru the sunroof headliner (As the drain channel not wide enough UNDER the sunroof seal at the back of the sunroof) What i DO NOT understand is How does the leak appeared on the driver and rear passenger OUTSIDE the drain channels??? :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: Edited May 5, 2015 by Wayne2015
VW_OwneR_85 2 Posted May 5, 2015 Now I understand when water leaks thru the sunroof headliner (As the drain channel not wide enough UNDER the sunroof seal at the back of the sunroof) its just slid back, it needs to be centered over that SunRoof panel edge , push/slide the channel towards the front {it will also move the S/R inner panel} pretty sure theres supposed to be a lock/catch to stop it from moving , i havent been able to test mine yet as i had the same problem after re fitting my S/R, as i wasnt aware that channel could move back and forth. i could of sworn i seen abit of moisture on the tube/hose connection {nevermind} , theres only one other way yours can be leaking from then , you see in the 2nd and 3rd pictures , you can see joins with black adhesive/mastic , could be seeping through them joins? have you been in the car with someone pouring water on the S/R? dry everything off before you do {if you havent already} , you got the headliner off already, just unbolt the sunroof and pull the whole lot out in one, its easy! really easy! will take you less then 10minutes and you only need a 10mm socket, you cant mess up any alignment or anything like that, then set it up level on a bench or what ever, block off the drain holes and fill it with water to test the joints , to get it back in though you ideally need two people so you dont scratch the paint work but not much can go wrong, worth doing,

I know coz when another member - MZPog (Stuart) and myself tinker with his spare sunroof - the sunroof headliner dropped out and reveal the rear drain channel is integral to the sunroof headliner... I will attempt to push the sunroof headliner if I can. But this might explain/fix the leak from headliner... ...but I don't think will fix the leak from the driver/rear-passenger corners. Yes Its actually 10 bolts to remove the whole sunroof cartridge assembly. I am actually waiting for a replacement moon roof to come up for sale so it fixes my broken sunroof AND leaks ....but none for sale yet :( Worst scenario, Is as u said - remove existing sunroof and test/clean it .... Cheers again for your detailed replies
Wayne2015 10 Posted May 5, 2015 VW_owner_85 U could be right about the leak from the drain hose ref pics. But that could be coz the leak - leak from corners ONTO the drain hose. But I could be wrong. I will monitor .....
Wayne2015 10 Posted May 5, 2015 Drain channel at sunroof rear moves back as well when sliding backwards (and part of sunroof headliner) My sunroof leaks thru sunroof headliner via this gap at back of sunroof More pics here! http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=89983&page=25&p=1061641&highlight=Spare%20sunroof#post1061641
Wayne2015 10 Posted May 5, 2015 If it were the alarm wire, I'd say it's going to the boot light. Aftermarket alarms normally use an internal light as a trigger that a door is open. Sean! U were right! BROWN wire to WHITE wire ... WHITE wire now turns YELLOW... YELLOW wires to boot goes to boot lamp! :thumbleft:
VW_OwneR_85 2 Posted May 5, 2015 ah skrew the moon roof, fix the one you got ;) When i was fitting my rear seats the other week i noticed a strange single red wire going to the boot lamp, didnt know wtf it did but now i do! The more you know :)

Wayne2015 10 Posted May 6, 2015 I suspect the back of my sunroof headliner leaked because: - the sunroof outside seal have shrunk and lets in MORE water than it should when new But Still unsure why the front and back of the sunroof cartridge leaks though ...
VW_OwneR_85 2 Posted May 6, 2015 or remember that rubber tubular seal on the inside of the inner panel? maybe thats supposed to deflect water into the drain? iirc its bonded maybe become unstuck?
Wayne2015 10 Posted May 6, 2015 or remember that rubber tubular seal on the inside of the inner panel? maybe thats supposed to deflect water into the drain? iirc its bonded maybe become unstuck? The inner seals were removed to allow the whole headliner to be removed. No idea - u could be right. But WHY only leak on driver side then (and not both sides)??? Will only know when sunroof cartridge is removed/tested ... :bonk:
VW_OwneR_85 2 Posted May 6, 2015 1st line of defence is the black outside seals. 2nd line this black tube along the back? 3. Refurb the black tube seal at the back of sunroof yea this one!
Wayne2015 10 Posted May 6, 2015 yea this one! Can do But the point is EVEN if the sunroof leaks - Unless there is huge pour of water (like when i hose the car down) - The drains should carry the water away.. I suspect again that most Corrados leak same as mjne  Its not obvious as only a patch of water gets onto the INSIDE of the headliner. I suspect maybe the drain channels not deep enough and maybe there are sealants ABOVE/SIDE of drain channels to prevent them overflowing???? Just my 2 pence...
Wayne2015 10 Posted May 6, 2015 The drain channels are quite deep actually 1cm (back) Front I cant see them overflowing unless of course my hose pipe
VW_OwneR_85 2 Posted May 6, 2015 yea i dont think theres an over flow issue, the gap that allows water in is pretty small, less then 1mm? so thats not a great deal of water, think that tubular rubber is deffo worth checking out, looking at the pic it looks like it compress's against the drain when the panel's fully closed ?
Wayne2015 10 Posted May 6, 2015 I think (as u said) I ll rule out the drain outlets by taping them - just to be sure!

Wayne2015 10 Posted May 6, 2015 yea this one! That tube under sunroof is too deep inside to be any use or cause of leak i think (may stop draught i think!) Sunroof headline normal position When pushed back Deffo NORMAL is better :thumbleft:

Wayne2015 10 Posted May 7, 2015 Removing dash speaker + vent grilles and glove box ... (When I was installing aerial cable etc) Glove box 1st Remove plastic cover on bottom of inside glove box door (Just prise off) x2 screws bottom x2 screws top Remove glove box light NOW Be ready for a lot of sweat, elbow grease, bleeding and f-ing... Pull out The problem is it will not SLIDE out. Its a VERY VERY tight gap for glove box PLUS there is a piece of plastic that PROTRUDES all along the bottom of the glove box AND the gap is NOT big enough for this EXTRA protruding So u literally need to PUSH/BEND/SQUASH the bottom of the glove box for this protruding bit to JUMP over the glove box housing (or frame) and force it out (good luck breaking anything  :shocked!: ) U can just about see the protruding bit along bottom of glove box (criss cross plastic) Ok (I cheated and took dash vents out 1st - but makes no difference!) And the METAL bar on bottom of glove box housing for the protruding part to jump over :shocked!:
