scruffydubbers 0 Posted June 17, 2004 i ve 2 got a timing lights, one which you could type the disired angle in and one which just flashes (really old), the good one has stopped working yesterday when i was trying to set it up, and i remember reading to advance the timing as much as possible before it pinks for maximum performance. i am using a differnt cam and had the head skimmed so i would have thought setting the dizzy the manufactures setting might not be at its best, but having said that i am running the engine in at the moment so would nt really matter if it was at its maximum performance on the timing thanks gazza for your help, its quite cool here today so might give it a go i ve just been thinking about it and answered my own question, i know which way the engine turns so i can work out which way to turn the dizzy to advance the timing
h100vw 0 Posted June 17, 2004 Rotor rotates clockwise, so you need to turn the dissy anticlockwise to make it spark earlier. Gavin
scruffydubbers 0 Posted June 17, 2004 thanks for the help anticlockwise = advanced. seems to be running nice now, but going to leave the spanner in the car
Andy T 0 Posted June 17, 2004 Thought the Dizzy on Digifant engines was just the basic ref. setting, and that the knock sensor/ECU overrides theit anyway? i.e if its within a few degrees of the base setting, theres no point in adjusting it :?:
