My Storm build thread

Recommended Posts

Been a while since I posted an update since the body shop so thought I should put some words and pics up.

The original thread is here: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=88484

Once back from the body shop, first up was engine mounts:

IMG-20150119-00149_zps7dbd9c5c.jpg

Cams were added:

20150102_153338_zps6a31d1d4.jpg

Started to add the inlet manifold back in:

and test fit the exhaust manifold:

Better pic of the inlet section

Wrapping the exhaust manifold was an utter pig, but happy with the outcome:

20150227_165104_zpsbizhm2kz.jpg

and re fitted

New Schrick inlet manifold fitted:

20150308_164842_zpsmvh3elib.jpg

Also managed to make up a bracket and modify the old heat shield to add an extra layer of heat protection:

Just realized that I have missed off a section of the trim from the top of the head under the manifold to route the HT leads through so Ill have to sort that tomorrow.

Looking at what I have though, it all appear to sit a little high, so wondering if the bonnet will shut, anyone else seen or thought this?

What do people think?

Also has anyone else had an exhaust manifold from the states before with the additional stabbing as shown above? If so, what did you use to block it? does anyone know the thread size by any chance?

thanks.

with advice from the forum and stealth, I went with the schimel 256 I think. it's not going to be a race car so wanted a good all rounder.

what did you have to cut out of the bonnet? Now I'm worried!

Dont worry , mine sat a little bit to high so had to cut a small section of the bonnet out where it was touching , you cant really tell as it was only a ridged part on the bonnet

Out of curiosity how come you went with them cams as apposed to the 268 ? Only reason i ask is because im rnning the same set up bt with 268s

to be honest, it could be 268, I'm typing on the fly and didn't look up the actual numbers, your numbers sound closer to right. I just didn't want it to aggressive or to peak to much. I'm building with road trips in mind.

I will look up actual numbers tonight

Had a quick half hour down the unit tonight and got the bonnet on, all good in the hood. Fits a treat with no contact so happy about that.

I did however forget to look at the cam pack for the numbers so ill have to look that out for you tomorrow.

Bank Holiday quick update. Got the rear bumper fitted and lose fit on the exhaust. Also cheeky little polish of the tail lights for good measure.

Bit of stretch on the bumper makes it look good but may need a bit of adjustment to get it just right but we will see.

Tail pipe is a really nice fit and shape without being too in your face.

Really wanted to get a bit more done but spent a lot of time trying to find bolt sizes and get gaskets cut and brackets sorted.

So not a lot has been happening of late but i managed a few hours down the unit last week and have got all the rear lights working now, The welding is done on the manifold, last hose fitted and the coupling made off, coolant added and she is a runner!!

To treat myself, I test fitted the new wheels before they go off to Lepsons:
