MOT passed, But not out of the woods

Recommended Posts

Took car for the MOT yesterday, and she passed with just rear shocks advisory, slight misting of oil as they put it.

Well pleased tbh didn't expect a pass this year.

Just need to sort fitting a new ignition switch, what broke in the garage when the MOT was finished. Then sort some alarm gremlins out that have just appeared today, to which have no idea where to start.

Faults are:

1: When any door is opened the hazards flash just once.

2: Car is locking on it's own randomly.

Any advise would be appreciated.

I'm no alarams whizz, as if the alarm unit itself is at fault it could throw up all sorts of problems. However, based on point 1, maybe it's worth removing the interior light switches from the A-Pillars and making sure the contacts are all clean. It could be something as simple as that if you're lucky but based on point 2 I'm not so sure :-/

Cheers, i've done a quick check on the door switches seem to work ok.

Still in the dark with this, i'll look further when i get chance.

Any wiring issues where the door meets the car? e.g. worn wires causing a bad connection as the door is opened?

Sounds alarm related though.

Check the wiring to the tailgate too, I had an audi 80 cab that locked the doors everytime I pressed the brake pedal
