Going to try and use the M-Tech v4 self programmable ecu.

Got it powered up to see if everything was working as should be. Turns out I wasn't getting any MAP. When I soldered in a new map sensor there was no difference but after giving it to a friend he diagnosed the problem. The sensor had been soldered in the wrong way from the start. The ecu had been running an N/A throttle body setup and hadn't been using the map sensor. Flipped it round and resolderd, job done. Still need to get her rigged up to a VR sensor and see if I get RPM.

Time for another update. It's unbelievable how fast time goes past. I've been working on the car on week night's, once the little one's in bed.

 

The exhaust system is completed and fitted to the car.

Ground out the cracks with the angle grinder and welded them up.

I'll get them refurbed soon or wait till the warmer weather and paint them myself. In the meantime, ive got a shot of one of my mates wheels.

This is by no means a criticism more an honest question: the oil feed you have, will it not over supply the turbo? Only reason I ask is that I have a 1mm restrictor on mine to avoid over facing the turbo/ seals.

 

Looking forward to more progress info :D

Heat wrap the oil feed line..better still, try making it out of solid copper pipe or metal. When pushing a turboed 16v mill the turbo sometimes glows red hot and the heat rises.. When i do turbos i run the feed along the bulk head just to avoid this.

If you can't or don't want to redo it, at least wrap the oil line with reflective heat tape.

And while your at it, pop over here to Rome and redo my 3" exhaust..awsome welding done there.

Def. look into fitting a restrictor if it's a BB catridge'd turbo and a big oil cooler, Lancia delta integrale ones are great or any other make, seeing as the turbo's only oil cooled.

Was going to buy a trigger wheel but decided I would use what i have.

So i removed my crankshaft pulley and through her into the manual mill and made my own 36-1 trigger wheel.

Got on with Mounting my VR sensor while I was down there.

This picture doesn't actually show the end product ☺ had to do a little fabrication to get the sensor to sit at the right position (tooth) at TDC.

No no not at all, ill take anything onboard, ha. Don't know if you have noticed the brass turbo feed to turbo adapter that i have machined? That is my oil flow restrictor. Sorry I haven't mentioned it in the build.

Next on the list was to make an adapter bracket to hold the ford coil pack that im going to use. Unfortunately the pitch between hole center's are not the same.

Yeah I will be putting some sort of heat protection onto the oil feed as it travels across the exhaust manifold. Plus I'm going to try and retro fit the standard heat shield back over the manifold. I hear what your saying about using hard line but I don't really understand how running it along the bulkhead would work so well considering the engine moves? Thanks.

Whipped off my inlet manifold to drill and tap then fit the barb's I machined. Boost gauge, ecu map sensor, fuel pressure regulator, brake servo vac line, manifold air temp and the idle control valve.

Next thing to tackle was the engine management wiring. Done a bit of homework and had some advise from a couple mate's on the subject, so got to work.

Pulled out the soldering iron, multimeter and ****top. There was a big use of spade terminal's till I knew it was right begore permanently soldering anything in. 😁
