kongo127 0 Posted June 17, 2004 What is the normal voltage reading when your Corrado is running? :?: Most of the times it shows exactly 12 volt ( no electrical stuff working ). But when i turn on the lights it drops below 12 volt. :? And if i turn the heated seats on with lights on it drops to 10,5 volt! I don´t think this is normal... I never saw the meter showing more than 12,5 volt. Most of the cars that i see run at 13,5 volt. :!: The meter is new and i took it to my works lab to calibrate him. No adjustments were required because it´s getting correct readings! P.S. - The battery is Bosch Silver with only a couple of months.
kvwloon 0 Posted June 17, 2004 Yep, mine normally shows around the 13 volt mark. Only with everything conceivable electrical going will it drop near 12volts. Has the voltmeter got it's own dedicated Earth, if not you might get inaccurate readings! Try running an Earth direct from the gauge to the metal bracket behind the cubby hole if not. Oh, and what's your alternator producing?!
kongo127 0 Posted June 17, 2004 I am using the same wiring connections from the early cassette storage. I didn´t take a look at the alternator yet... Or probably the voltage regulator... I´ve heard somewhere that they die about 100.000Km. :? I don´t like a drop to near 10 volt...
Reggit 0 Posted June 18, 2004 Hook voltmeter up direct to battery terminals, should read around 13.5V with engine running if all is healthy.
scruffydubbers 0 Posted June 18, 2004 if it is bad take the rectifier off the back of the alternator clean up the brushes and the armatur and there some contacts and a earth clean all these up and give it a go. mine was nt charging, i was about to buy a new alternator i just thought i would try giving it a clean up first and then i got 13.5v :D
kongo127 0 Posted June 18, 2004 Well done! :D I´m gonna try that one... :)
