Is it worth keeping my Corrado??

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the offer Wayne but I'm at work both of those days!! Have booked the car into my local vw specialist so they can have a look, they said they didn't trust vw opinion lol!

No worries, Simon!

Even still got my old aux belt in good nick ;)

Could have come over and did it together and all for free! :thumb right:

Good luck with it!

And keep us posted! :shades:

So I have taken my Rado to the garage for a second opinion. They have quoted me £970 for all the work to be carried out. They suggested putting some k seal in to see if that will stop the head gasket leak, so have opted to do that for the time being to see if that works. If not it may be time to cut my losses :(

Ah shame but that's the thing with older cars I guess. You either need to fix / maintain them yourself or pay out for someone else to do it.

Agree with that, you either need to be a bit savy with the spanners so you can do some of the basics. Or have deep pockets to pay the labour costs.

Quick update, k seal seems to have stopped the coolNt leak from the head gasket. Haven't topped her up in over a week!!!!

Still need to sort rocker gasket aux belt roof lining boot lock and passenger door amongst many other issues . Does it ever end?? Lol

Regarding the aux belt freying - do you know if it's just freying with age, or there's something causing it to shred belts?

Haha im with wayne - it doesnt end!! but seriously idd say tackle these things 1 at a time and they will soon get done, everything you mentioned apart from the head gasket can easily be done DIY by someone with little to no mechanical experience , theres so many diy guides on the internet now aswell which makes it easy, just read up, you could even print the pages off, these jobs just require basic tools which if you need to buy them buy them as they will pay for themselves, can even think of them as "freebies" once the job is done :)

just some examples , theres tons out there

From what VW said its just freying and a little torn in parts. My garage didn't seem to be too concerned but I'm a bit of a perfectionist so if I know something isn't right I have to get it done lol.
