Why you shouldn't buy a Corrado

Recommended Posts

believe it or not, it was ordered as a non sunroof corrado (which I was looking for) and then sent to a firm to have it fitted before it was collected by the new owner. the date of the install is 2 weeks before the car was registered

it's slides inside the roof like the factory one, but the motor is at the back and the switch was in the dash. the whole roof lining was retrimmed from new!! madness, how could you cut up a brand new car like that!! it's about 2" bigger than the factory one. I have the panel back all the time, the interior is much nicer with the extra light coming in, and becasue it's chromolux it never gets too hot. going the have the windows tinted to match.

I've just changed the courtesy light and moved the switch up there, need the connector now so I can plug it into the original switch.

I had part of the roof lining out to check the install. it's been done well, no bodging or rust or leaks thankfully. just need to hook up the closure part of it to my alarm so it shuts with the windows.

I think that this is the same as the one I got out of a MKII Golf driver in a scrap yard a few weeks ago to fit to my MKI golf GTI to replace the horrible manual glass piece of poo which had been fitted... I'll check tonight... 8)

The wiring on that sucked too! ;)

So yours isn't the same as the external one shown on that Vortex link then?

Those ones are the same as Calibra ones and *have* to slide externally due to the roof being so short.

Either way, it's a pretty cool roof actually!

no, mines goes inside, hence the roof lining mods.

hopefully it's more reliable than the rockwell one. but f*ck knows where I'll get any bits for it if it does throw a wobbler.

I hated it at first, when I found out it wasn't a passat one, I nearly sold tha car! but I love it now.

There's no way it can possibly be any worse than the Crock-of-Shitwell international roof!

So long as it's an internal slidy one and glass, I'd say you've got a good selling point there. No one else on here has the same roof, and possibly yours is the one of a handful nationwide!
