front hub blot went loose?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone suffered from the front hub bolt going loose. noticed the wheel clunking under corners so took wheel off and found the main hub blot was ultra loose. theres no pin or retaining washer etc to stop it loosening so just wondering if its a common problem?

Correct. You get a new hub nut with CV boot kits.

If the hub nut is too loose, the bearing will wear out prematurely.

I had a hub nut shear off a while back. It happened shortly after a garage had taken the hub off to replace the cv boot but they didn't replace the nut and/or must have overtorqued it causing it to snap the end of the driveshaft off. Don't know what was still holding the wheel on.

yeah i`ve had that aswell about 12 months ago!

tightened it up then but when i came to change my suspension today it was soooo tight i broke a snap-on tool belonging to my mechanic!

in the end had to get it off using a scaffold bar for leverage.

just be glad your wheel didnt fall off and check `em regularly!
