Bournemouth James 0 Posted June 24, 2004 Check this site for the info your asking for: http://miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html And i would say a 215 tyre would be best suited to a 8" wide wheel, but a 215 tyre may not be best suited to your car
Henny 0 Posted June 24, 2004 I run 204 45 16 on my 7.5J rims and they're spot on with the speedo being pretty much accurate through the whole speed range... (tested on GPS as being 5mph UNDER reading at every speed between 30 and 120 mph due to me not putting the needle back on properly ... :? ) I wouldn't have thought that there would be a problem running the same on an 8J wheel, although a 215 40 16 may be better due to the extra 1cm width in the tyre... I suppose it depends on how flush you are feeling 'cos I'd bet that 40 profile tyres are sodding expensive! :?
dazzyvr6 0 Posted June 24, 2004 would work out cheaper to go with 17 inch wheels as the tyres are cheaper
Dancing Fish 0 Posted July 1, 2004 Hi All, The link below provides a rather comprehensive account on tyres and wheels and their relationship including rolling radius. I learnt a lot. Be warned though, there is a fair amount of physics in it! http://www.chris-longhurst.com/carbibles/ df.
