2elliot 0 Posted August 26, 2015 Hi Did VW make more then one type of grill for the later cars? I'm looking to replace mine as it has a hole, maybe from a rock boucing off the front and a couple of clips missing. The reason I ask is my grill is only open on the bottom slot, the two slots above are blanked off. I would have thought all the slots would be open to help cool this engine. It's a genuine VW grill just not what I was expecting to see. Cheers
2elliot 0 Posted August 26, 2015 It's okay, I've found the answer... VW made two styles of grill, one open slot and all slots open.
timmaaah 0 Posted August 28, 2015 It's to do with airflow iirc, something about creating a better hole through the air. Or I might just be talking a load of old balls lol
g0ldf1ng3r 15 Posted August 28, 2015 I believe it is to do with the countries in which they were sold the 'fully open slots' version was for warmer climates & the 'half blocked slots' version was for colder climates kind of like a winter grill & summer grill, where the open slot version lets more air through to the radiator not sure why many UK rados ive seen have the closed version though (which my VR does)
