Help! My charger is rattling!

Recommended Posts

This morning when i started the car it seemed to be making a strange noise.

But when i switched of last night was working good! :?

Opened the bonnet and it was the charger!!!

The charger is brand new with only 2500 miles!

It is rattling now! It is louder near the silencer box!

There are no signs of oil leaks and the car is running good...

Could this be the outlet casing bearing?

I don´t understand how could this happen with a brand new charger, stock pulley and i drive smooth all the time...

i thought my charger was rattling but it ended up being the power steering pump making the noise but it did scare me also. check yours and also check your water pump, and good luck!

Are you sure its the charger and not the Cambelt tensioner..?

Also you mention that its a new charger but the last ones were made 12 years ago so the seals will have been sitting in there for a long time....

I can´t believe this...

What a nightmare!

Charger is now off and opened in my garage... :(

All the bearings are noisy and it´s possible to feel them rolling badly by touch...

One apex strip worned...

The charger was running dry!

Not a drop of oil!

I did not inspected the oil feed pipe yet, but i think it might be blocked...

In the middle of this nightmare i know i had some luck thanks to my ears! LOL

Maybe the next time i would turn on the car, the charger could blow away!

Thanks to Darren i am getting sorted...
