Jamie 1 Posted October 24, 2015 I know the side windows are bonded in but are the seals bonded to the glass? I'm thinking about getting the car painted but not keen on taking the side glass out if I can help it so wondered if the seals are removable?
Harrier 1 Posted October 25, 2015 The seals come out with the glass , a decent screen fitter shouldn't have any problems getting them out, had them out of my current and previous cars.
tomi 10 Posted October 25, 2015 (edited) good windscreen company , with correct tools (electrical knife) will remove them in fiew minuts and they will save You all trims etc and they shouldnt charge much for it Edited October 30, 2015 by tomi
VW_OwneR_85 2 Posted October 25, 2015 yes they are part of the window, along the bottom edge and vertical door shut a painter could pack the seal up so paint goes under but the 45 degree seal edge is a problem...
Jamie 1 Posted October 25, 2015 Damn! Was hoping they were going to be filler seals as the glass is bonded. I'm really wary of having the glass taken out as had a bad experience with a screen fitter myself in the past and read plenty of horror stories about glass not being refitted properly. VW_OwneR_85 2 Posted October 25, 2015 these are far easier to fit then the main windscreen, you can easily fit them yourself , not much to go wrong, just a case of applying the adhesive {comes in a kit with paint/glass primer which is applied with a swob} bead around the entire permiter in a triangle shape at around 13mm high, then push in place , being careful not to push to much! secure with masking tape and then leave it,

I'm happy to have a go at most stuff but just worried about getting them bang on. If it's not that hard maybe I'll just risk letting a glass specialist do it. Cheers man :)
