Kenwood CD changer --> Kenwood headunit probs

Recommended Posts

I bought my VR6 with a Kenwood CD changer. Fine, I thought, that will work with the Kenwood mp3 headunit I've got.

However... my headunit CD changer connector is round, and the CD changer connector is square :x

I've been looking around for some sort of adaptor, but no luck. And Halfords :gag: were about as useful as a hole in the head. Any suggestions?

It does :) just with a round connector. I heard something about round connectors being relatively new and square type was old, I dunno if that's true or not. The CD changer looks a good few years older than my headunit

Phone Kenwood direct and ask if they do a convertor. Most likely not and you'll need a new multi-changer at about £200

CD-changers and head-units are not interchangeable if the connectors are different.

Certainly not between two different makes of head-unit/CD-changer anyway.

They use different software.

if the connectors are different there is no way at all of connecting them! what you are trying to do is to put an old changer with a newish head unit or vice versa, cant be done im afraid!

btw, im an audio specialist at halfords, still liking that hole in your head??

anyway, if you have an mp3 head unit why are you going to use a multichanger? the whole idea of mp3 head units was to get a clearer sound quality & supress the need for a multichanger because you can get nearly as much music on 1 cd?!
