G60 running issues - please help.

1991 Corrado G60

 

Okay, so the problems started this morning when I left to go to work after the car being stood since it was parked outside the evening before (after work).

 

Car got about 3 miles away from home when it started to bog down, felt like a misfire and no matter how hard I pressed the throttle it barely increased the revs.

 

So this evening I've checked:

 

Lambda sensor (unplugged and checked power etc, all seems okay),

 

Spark plugs (swapped for my old set which were known to work, no change),

 

Coolant temp sensor (swapped my new GSF one back to my genuine old one, minute change maybe in my head),

 

Vacuum running from throttle body to ECU (when this is removed the car idles a lot better, the overfueling seems to clear at least to a "better" state, however under load when driving it bucks and kangaroos and the idle isn't steady either). Other vacuum pipes all seem okay too.

 

Dizzy is solid (has not moved),

 

Dizzy, rotor arm, coil, plugs and ht leads all replaced a month ago and has been in daily use since with no issues,

 

ISV unplugged causes the engine to nearly die, so that is doing it's job,

 

Fuses checked along with relays (visibly they look fine).

 

 

So that doesn't leave me much else. :( Any thoughts? I'm going to get the ECU tested by a local ECU repair specialists to see if perhaps something inside has failed, but other than that I'm at a loss. So I turn to you guys for help please...

My 1992 G60 is doing exactly as yours.

 

I've tried the same checks, and no luck.

 

Did you get sorted with a new oxygen sensor? They're quite expensive and I'd like to hear from you.

Unplug oxygen sensor at connector on top of rear engine mount and see if it runs better. A G60 will run perfectly normal with it disconnected albeit not very economical. Unfortunately a genuine bosch sensor is expensive and cheaper ones tend not to last very long.

Unplugging the oxygen sensor made no difference. I´m waiting for a new genuine one, but not very confident.

 

The spark plugs are very black (powdered), the exhaust is also very black and spits dirty liquid.

 

I´ve checked and re-done all the grounds on the engine bay and have also cleaned all electrical contacts and plugs, no difference at all.

 

Also replaced the ECU vaccum hose and checked for possible leaks.

 

I´m almost running out of ideas... I can´t believe the ECU is fried (I heard it somewere).

 

Getting Corrado parts here in Portugal is a pain. I usually buy second hand parts from Germany.

 

The car has no power at all, not even enough to park. The engine dies about 2 minutes after starting.

 

Meanwhile supercharger has been serviced and doing 11psi on a stock pulley.

 

What a nightmare! :(

Check that you haven't put the pipes on upside down on the throttle body, easily done.

Buggered fuel press. regulator? Rubber hose ok?

Have a look at those first.

Disconnect the oxygen sensor at the rectangle connector that sits on top of the rear engine mount. If it runs better then that's your problem. Bear in mind that the oxygen sensor doesn't come into play until the engine is warmed up to around 80 degrees so wont be affect anything when cold.

Change your blue temp sensor, check all the vac hoses, check the wiring to the fuel rail .. standard G60 issues
