Heater Blower Motor Making 'Whirring' Noises......

Recommended Posts

This always happens when the weather starts to cool down a bit. Switch the blower on and this noise starts up right away. I have taken it

all apart, and when the fan itself is out of the housing, it's as quiet as a church mouse! Put it back in, and it starts playing up again. I've checked

the housing and there's nothing in there at all, it's been wiped out and the air feed in the scuttle tray has also been cleared and a new gasket put

on.

Anyone have any ideas?? Ta!

Sounds like you've covered everything so my only suggestion would be to turn the radio up.

Mine was doing the same, i took it apart and broke it so had to buy another one, was a non-genuine one and not too expensive, its been fine since.

might be a promo code as well to make it even cheaper

Seen one on Fleabay for about 18 squids.... Might invest. Did the new motor/fan fix it

completely Jim?

Well it was my motor making the noise and a new one got rid of the noise, i seem to remember it wouldn't make the noise on all speeds, i took it out and cleaned it which stopped the noise for a short while and then it returned. I guess the fans strains a bit more when its in the housing instead of just spinning freely in mid air.

the heater blower's were noisey on both my VR & 16v

replaced them with an ebay one for under £30 - here you go - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/INTERIOR-HEATER-BLOWER-MOTOR-VW-CORRADO-192959101-/321157973200?hash=item4ac681c4d0:g:ZAwAAOSwv0tVgFEz

now both powerful & quiet :)

& a guide on changing just in case (though note the is a small clip which you need to pull down to allow the motor to rotate out)
