Neet 0 Posted July 19, 2004 Hiya, i'm a newbie to the board and was after some advice. My 2.016v Corrado was in for a new clutch over the weekend and also had some wires removed from behind the dash. It was excess wiring from old stereos/phones/sat nav etc. I also had a problem fixed to get the interior light working when the door opens. The car was fine when i picked it up on friday night but come saturday the windows don't work. Neither do the wipers or front lights? Has anyone else had this? Thanks Neet
16VG60 1 Posted July 20, 2004 If your your Corrado's electrics were working without fault before the recent works were done, and have since developed these problems, i suggest you return the car to those who did the works. This could of course be a coinsidence, but it would be wise to make this the first step. If you get another agent to get involved with this problem before, having given these guys a chance, then they would have every right to defer blame elsewhere. Guest Posted July 20, 2004 when my windows gave up it was the fuse (fuse 14), it also controls reverse light (something you won't notice isn't working), leccy seats etc. Wipers are on a different fuse (fuse 5). I might be that they have left a live wire knocking about in there, check the fuses, if they have gone i'd take it back to them, and explain that they must have left a wire loose thats earthing. The reverse lights aren't working eiither so that sounds like it could be the problem. It's back in on Wednesday so should know more then. Thanks for your help. Guest Posted July 20, 2004 fuse 14 then. its a right pain as it doesn't say it controls the windows in the manual. It also controls heated seats, heated mirrors, reverse light, heated washer jets, cruise control, and god knows what else. dunno about the windscreen wipers though, as they are on fuse 5 (according to the manual) so if they have left a live wire to fuse 14 free it shouldn't effect fuse 5. However, if fuse 14 does the windscreen jets, they are near the wipers, so i'd start looking in that area, they have probably caught a load of wires in the bonnet or something
Neet 0 Posted July 20, 2004 Thanks, i'm on GSF at the moment and they have different size fuses. For a 2.0 16v would it be 10 or 19mm?
Guest Posted July 20, 2004 no worries mate, we're all here to help. dunno what GSF mean by 10 or 19mm, they are just standard size spade fuses, you can get them from any car shop, or DIY place.
Neet 0 Posted July 20, 2004 Thanks i didn't think i'd seen any bigger ones. They all look the same size as my last car. 95966 BLADE FUSE 19mm 10A General Use 0.20 These are nearly twice the size! I'll chnage all the fuses and see how i get on, Thanks again.
Guest Posted July 20, 2004 mines 15A, although this might be todo with the leccy seats and other bits and bob, dunno what yours has. gl mate, i'll bet you a fiver that it will either:- (A) fixes the problem (hopefully it will). (B) Blow the fuse (then you know somethings earthing under there).
