Wesleyvr6 10 Posted August 6, 2017 What are those big plastic dash pieces underneath the steering column and passenger side at 5:10??
fendervg 33 Posted August 6, 2017 If it's a US spec car it would have had knee bars fitted.
Wesleyvr6 10 Posted August 6, 2017 Excuse my ignorance but what the heck are knee bars?
Jim 2 Posted August 8, 2017 The things you see in the video! They didn't have under-dash trays, they had those kneebars. Presumably some US mandated thing for crash protection.
fendervg 33 Posted August 8, 2017 Yeah, as above - they were a safety/crash protection feature required by US regulations. Can be seen in this diagram: http://www.oemepc.com/vw/part_single/catalog/vw/markt/USA/modell/COR/year/1994/drive_standart/76/hg_ug/857/subcategory/164000/part_id/3691849/lang/e
Billzeebub 1 Posted August 8, 2017 Really not a fan of the US editions, with the crazy electric seat-belts, indicator position-orange side reflectors etc. The American market used to butcher 70s/80s 911s with their bumper/crash protection rules.
