Clutch slave cylinder repair

I've got a spare clutch slave and the piston rod seems to move around like a joystick! Is this normal or should it stay in one axis? Just checking before taking it apart.

When I got the Corrado the clutch padel use to stick, Check the paper work Got with the car a found that it had a repair kit fitted to the clutch master clylinder before l got it,

The price for a new one was £8.00 difference,Replace the clutch master cylinder (£27.00)padel is now perfect,For the price difference fit a new one ,do the job only once
