Robbo149 0 Posted July 26, 2004 Hi guys, fitted a new aux coolant pump at the weekend (and pretty chuffed I am too, my diy experience being pretty limited up to now). Anyway after I'd finished & was running the engine to check coolant level & for leaks etc, I was having a good old nosey around the engine & I noticed a hissing noise coming from the oval shaped black plastic thing connected to the ISV. It seemed to be coming from the joining piece which connects at a right angle to one the rubber hoses. Sorry for the lengthy description, I should have taken a pic! I looked it up on ETKA & it's just referred to as a 'damper'. What is it, what does it do, & should it be hissing? Cheers, Robbo
PhatVR6 0 Posted July 26, 2004 it's asilencer for the ISV it'll be cracked, common fault bin it, and re route the pipes. so you have the offtake coming out of the intake boot into the end of the ISV. then the short 90 bend comoing out of the side of the ISV and into the inlet manifold.
