nosforz 0 Posted August 2, 2004 I have a bit of a problem with my brakes on my 1990 Corrado G60 that one of you may have a solution to: When first starting and driving the car, the brakes work great. They grip hard and feel firm. However, after driving the car for about 30 minutes or so, whether I'm using the brakes or not, both the Brake and ABS light come on. After this point when braking, there is about a 1/2 second after pressing the pedal before the brakes will grab. The pedal vibrates like it would if the ABS were functioning, but it does not slow the car at all. Once the 1/2 second has passed, the brakes grab about half as well as they did before, and feel quite spongy. If you have any ideas on what this could be, please let me know. Thanks in advance for your help!
andycowuk 0 Posted August 2, 2004 1st hing is to change ur brake fluid and bleed thoroughly..... there are nipples on the master cylender, abs pump and each of the calipers, bleeding should be done with the abs pump on. Once you get this problem, are your brakes really hot?? the calipers could be binding, and after a bit the discs warps, once it cools, it goes true again. hth

kongo127 0 Posted August 10, 2004 I have the same problem mate! When i´m in traffic pressing the brake pedal for to long the abs pump starts to work trying to reach a certain pressure to then shut off. If i keep the pedal lightly pressed the pedal starts to go to the floor  and the ABS light comes on with the warning light on the dashboard too! The pedal starts vibrating i start to lose brake grip! Need to pull the emergency handbrake! This used to happen often when i first bought the car (it was stopped for a long time). Today it is rare to notice this. But there is a way to avoid this. So when you are in the traffic pressing the brake pedal (enought to keep the car stopped) try to press a little more than the necessary! I suspect that this is a issue related with an oil leak in the master brake cilinder. Do you hear you something like an air leak when you press the brake pedal? I do! Any ideas mates?
nosforz 0 Posted August 12, 2004 Hey kongo127. It sounds like you may be right and actually have a sight leak somewhere in your system when your brake is not applied all the way. However, the noise you hear when you release the brake after pressing it hard that sounds like air escaping is normal, so you can stop worrying about that!
