I let it warm up for a few min's before moving it off the drive and pointing it in the right direction , ready to go !! :o

Only to notice a line of fuel , leading back into the drive way !!! :x

Anyway got underneath and there was fuel pissing out , from the channel were the fuel pipe's live !!!

"Ball's to it" i decided to still goto to york in the works van !!

Just got back now , and i cracked it up , to try to find the leak ??

Nothing , bone dry !! WTF ???

The only thing i've done is , park it on the road ?? my drive slope's back to the rear of the car ??? Has anyone ever had this problem , because i'm baffeled ??

Cheers

I beleive that now the car has stood still the petrol which was held in the pipes has run out. These will not try to fill up again without them being primed by the fuel pump. BUT i would advise against starting it back up again or dirving it anywhere as fires are dettramental (spelling) to your wallet whereas if a pipe has been spilt the AA or RAC might be able to help if you have home start. if not worth getting a mobile mechanic out to you.

Yes - take care. My son had a petrol leak from pipe under his VR6 - garage would not let him drive away in car until pipes replaced. Very hot exhaust, etc, can ignite petrol vapour easily. Better to be safe than sorry.

You sure you wern't looking at my VR6 Slot? Had exactly the same thing, same place and when I went back to look for leak... nothing! The sponge that protects the pipes as they enter the body channel had perished allowing the pipes to chaff on the body. Not worn through as far as I can tell. The union in the engine bay where they join to the rubber pipes were dry as well????? Going to try again today when the car is cold and been stood for a while as that is when I noticed it before. Agggggh

Started car this morning from cold and fuel seen in area (Under brake master cylinder) where plastic pipes join rubber ones that lead to fuel rail. Took air inlet tubing off for better access and by then the pipes were dry. Seems it only leaks when there is initially no fuel pressure. I could not tell if it was the pressure feed or return pipe that was leaking so got to wait a few hours to let the whole thing settle before trying again. Hopefully I can just cut and rejoin the pipes.

Got the little sod. Leak from the pressure feed pipe where it joins the rubber pipe in engine bay (see above). Only leaks when cold and no pressure in pipe at first start. Start up again.....no leak. Second clip for now, getting new rubber pipe.

It's exactly this problem that I have created an account with this website!!

My driveway slopes too and had the rear of the car pointing down it and had the left it there for a few days after working on the interior. Went to start it to go to V and petrol went everywhere. Quickly turned ignition off and pushed car back into driveway. Drove it again a few days later and,...nothing.

Drove it again and then the leak was only slight, not the zoom juice flash flood as before.

Unfortunately no mobile vw specialist in my area and car due for MOT,have to drive it to garage,no choice (will get the old man to follow me on motorbike armed with fire extinguisher!)

Thanks for your help buttles!

Found it.

Drivers side just in front of the rear wheel is a fuel filter. The o-clips and rubber pressure feed pipe from the tank at the rear had become stretched where it meets the fuel filter over the cars so far 9 year life span and had just started leaking. New o-clips and fuel filter (as original bosch unit was still in!) and 40 minutes later no leak!

Original filter wasn't blocked either which I thought was the issue as all the juice that came out was clear, just stuck a new one in anyway.
