Will 0 Posted September 7, 2004 I finally got my VR6 back on the road yesterday after several months of practically restoring the thing!! Anyway, everything seems okay apart from the brakes which work ok until i slow down till approx 5mph. The pedal suddenly judders for a couple of seconds like the ABS is kicking in then the pedal falls slightly. The ABS light also comes on at random times as well but disappears when i turn the engine off then back on so i was thinking maybe a wheel sensor but would this cause the above? Wondering if anyone else has experienced anyhting like this..... Thanks!
h100vw 0 Posted September 7, 2004 This could easily be a wheel sensor fault. A good idea to try cleaning the sensors and the rotors. Soemtimes muck on either can confuse the system at slow speed due to low/inadequate output. If you try a search there have been plenty of ABS threads, detailing sensor checks etc. Gavin
davmatt 0 Posted September 8, 2004 This probably comes a little late since the original post was a couple of days ago, However. Have just had both sensors replaced to cure the same problem. First sensor went and brought the ABS light on, second sensor needed changing cos the voltage output from the new one didnt match the old one, fooling the system into thinking one wheel was locking up. Bloody cars!

Supercharged 2 Posted September 8, 2004 I'm getting that same judder at low speeds but never get the light on so no fault codes to go on, I have changed one wheel sensor tho for a new one so that might explain it... I have also changed the BPPS but this did not help so I was thinking it was the ABS ECU... Is it easy to test the sensor voltages?
davmatt 0 Posted September 8, 2004 It was my front sensors that were faulty, 'fraid i don't know how they measured the voltage, but suspect it just comes up on their diagnostic gear
