engine mount help - quick..

Recommended Posts

Hello chaps, i need some help…

I need to know how to change the rear two engine mounts and what torque settings to use. I have used the search functions and can not find what I need, I will not be getting the VT (vibra-tech) one yet…just OE at the moment.

I did find that I may be able to use a golf diesel gear box mount the solid one, is this true.

Please help me, the wife is driving the car and I fear for the engine as there is still a bit of movement, I have already changed the front mount.

Lets just say that her gear changes are not subtle….

Thanks

D.

Yeah solid MK2 mount for the gearbox - a diesel one, and normal OE for the back then...... although you're wasting your time replacing an OE rear for another OE rear.... they never break. If you're going to the trouble of jacking the engine up etc, at least fit a VT!!

A little bit yeah..... I noticed a better shift quality using a solid mount.

The rear engine mount does squish and sag but they don't actually ever break completely, so it's up to you if you want to change that one...

No I used a turn2 heavy duty rubber box mount.... but it's just a remarketed diesel MK2 one

thats a bit of a scam,

Still cheaper than the dealer tho... Mine was less than £12 from Turn2 inc shipping...
