Another electric window problem!!!!

Recommended Posts

My windows packed up the other day I ve got the door card off and have checked the power to the motor thats fine but there isn't any power to the switches and they dont light up when the lights are on. I ve checked the fuse above the fuse box thats alll ok and the mirrors and sunroof are working which makes me think it might not be the the control module in the rear quarter panel as they probably would've packed up at the same time I would have thought, also the central locking works a s well

Anyone got any ideas iirc there isn't a seperate relay in the fuse panel or is there????

My understanding is that the main power supply goes to the switches first then the switch sends the current to the motor. so it doesn't make much sense that there is power at the motor but not at the switch.

You should have a single live and a single negative both supplying each switch separately i.e single live wire converted into two lives feeding to each switch individually.

check that there is power there first of all.

there isn't any power at all at the switches I ve tested all the wires in the switches and no power is present but there is a black and a a red wire into the motor and the red wire has power to it but if you connect the multimeter to the black and the red there isn't power but if you connet the multimeter to ground on the chassis and red wire there is power to it!! I am a little confuse I hate electrics and dont get on with them at all LOL

Difficult as i dont have the bentley manual and also i dont have original leccy windows.

but in any switch system the live feed usually always goes to the switch then on to the item that needs the power.

think your best bet is to trace the wires from your switch back to the fuse box and try to see if there are any relays or control modules between tthem that could be causing the problem.
