Mk1GLS 0 Posted September 17, 2004 Hi all I have a VW which utilises 2.9 VR6 engine gearbox & linkage. Ok so it aint a Corrado but since I still have a corrado as well & it uses the same bits thought you might help? Its a bit stick in a bucket.... So I wish to tighten it up, and shorten the shift, as I have to lengthen the gearlever to make it more accesable which of course will amplify any movement. On me old Scirocco's it was easy a simple bracket to shorten the shift & a bush kit for the linkage. Had a look at this & it doesnt seem so obvious. Are there similar kits for these? Hope you can help.. Mike ps selling me h Reg G60 soon anyone interested mail me for more......
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted September 17, 2004 So you have a MK1 VR6? wicked! Best people to speak to about setting up the cable linkages are Awesome and Dubsport as they have a lot of knowledge about this conversion. Speak to Jim Cotton at Awesome (if he's in) as he's the main man for this... Short shifts for the cable box aren't as easy, as the throw reduction is done at the lever and not on the box linkage as per MK1/MK2. In basic terms, it's just a matter of shortening and repositioning the main tube and fulcrum point.
