did VR's have electic powersteering pumps??

had this conversation with Henny a few nights ago as i saw one guy selling a VR6 electric power steering pump but ive now lost the ad :(

 

so is it true??

 

and if so does it mean they dont run mechanical belt driven ones??

 

and can they be used on 16v's or g60's??

AFAIK its not true........electro PAS pumps are relatively new and certainly were not around in volume when the C was in production :wink:

not sure tbh...........i'm not even sure VW have used it in the mk4.........though if it was on anything i would imagine the R32 would have it :wink:

lol mate ive jsut started last week doing the old gym work and im fecked :roll: :( :lol:

 

and have you ever tired to steerin on a corrado with out power steering :shock: youll need more than massive muscles lol

 

could one of these oil electic oil pumps like found on dry sump engins work??

And yes, I have driven my first C without power steering... trying to go into a corner at 15MPH when the P/S belt breaks isn't something I'd recommend! :| :roll: :mrgreen:

When the power cut out on 16v once when I was going into a roundabout, I can tell you it was an entertaining experience. Even on the standard 15" Estorils I barely managed to steer myself enough to pull over to the side of the road safely..

Yeah, I got to drive my VR round a corner with no PAS last night at about 15mph. I nearly friggin died with exhaustion! :lol:

see this is why im trying to see if i can get rid of my power steering pump and have it electronically

 

also mean i dont need to run the 2nd v belt :D
