Dancing Fish 0 Posted September 28, 2004 Greetings, me again! My right tailgate strut pings if you knock it, and subsequently rattles very annoyingly when driving along. What is the best solution to this? Take it off and have a play, leave it well alone, get a new one etc? If i take it off, will the tail stand just on the one strut for a while, or will it crumple and take my head off? Ta DF.
Ice White Socks 0 Posted September 28, 2004 Hi, Both my struts rattle when the tailgate is open but they are fine when the tailgate is shut cos they are pushing so hard against the mounts. U sure its the struts? Don't mean to sound patronising cos you should know it being your car an all. Its just I had a big anti rattle campaign in the boot a month or so back. The worst culprit was the long black piece of trim lying at the top of the rear window. Creaked like a byatch at every bump. I took it off and put a load of thin foam on the back- made such a difference. The other culprit was the the rear wiper motor housing- just on the sides where it rubbed against the tailgate... could be worth looking at Cheers
