destructiv dave 0 Posted October 1, 2004 I have just dropped out the subframe to do an engine change and when putting the subframe back I forgot to reconnect the steering column. No probs I thought, did this in my Mk2, undid the UJ at the bottom of the column, connected UJ to rack, undid column retaining bolt, slid it out a little bit, wacked UJ back onto bottom of column and tightened everything. Tried this in the C, but you can't just unbolt the column from the shroud and then pull it out a little, or can you???...I don't want to drop the subframe again. Cheers, Dave
yellowslc 0 Posted October 1, 2004 Drop the subframe. The only other way is to remove the universal shaft from the column on the inside of the car. Install on the rack and then finally back to the steering column. Royal PITA. Subframe drop is cake. R
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted October 1, 2004 Yeah Subframe defintely easiest method. Just hang the subframe from the front two bolts which should give you enough room to play with.
