OK my poor old G plate Rado has done a little over 146k and 50k of those have been put on by me the regular run to work involves some lanes and the old M10 (much abuse ensues) now the poor thing has started smoking on idle, this doesn't dissappear when revved so I'm thinking (along with my neighbour) it might be rings, :mad2: If so what are my options and bear in mind my old lady who considers cars a mere form of transport for gods sake. any suggestions are welcome but there is not a bottomless pit of cash couple of hundred atm. My next door neighbour happens to have a spare valver engine sitting in his garage (of unknown history) bought for £50 of ebay it seems in resonable condition and might be of some use. So some sensible suggestions would be appreciated also bearing in mind "she who must be obeyed" wanted to know "what's wrong with the wheels youv'e got" when I said I wanted some new rims. :cuckoo: So feel sorry for me and suggest away.

I would dearly love to change/uprate the bushes on my 91 plate 1.8 valver could one of you nice chaps point me in the right direction of the thread or store as I assume this topic has been covered before. Thanks muchly :)

Hi I have a similar problem I also did my own uprated loom(courtsey of this august forum) but just for the dipped beam side of things ,now I find I have no sidelights at all, on the switch they go straight to dipped on both clicks BUT when I turn the ignition OFF the sidelights magically reappear. Can anyone solve this little mystery and can you give me a clue if the properly uprated loom is still available. Ta muchly

Just got in from work,Pulled up in front of garage,turned car off,opened garage door got back in car and the b****y thing would'nt start it sounded like the starter was partially seized has anybody got any ideas if it is a knackerd starter or ignition switch problem. :!:

I was out in Germany 3 weeks ago at the Karman factory in Osnabruck delivering the new Bentley convertible and met the man responsible for development of the Rado,Boy was i chuffed, Had a really good chat with him and found out a couple of thing's that might be of interest. 1.Karman built a convertible Rado but VW did'nt like it. 2.They're celebrating 100 years of Karman-Ghia this year but i dont have anymore details.but i do know that people are going from all over europe/world.
