Seems like this has divided everyone a fair bit then :) As I said, I hadn't really given them much thought before and considered a lot of other cars at the same price - Tuscans, E46 M3, 350z etc.. and it was only after actually getting in one and driving that I realised how well put together and complete a car they are. The quicker you drive them and the twistier the roads that you are on the better they become. Also, as much as I liked my M3, I couldn't go back to BMWs build 'quality'. Each to their own though - it's interesting to hear peoples views and it seems the same debate has broke out over on E38 :) Anyhow, either way, there is still plenty of time left to work up to a 911 :)

Best thing about it them though is in this weather they come into their own. Roof down with the engine noise above 4k rpm :D I was convinced I would do not modifications to this one but the idea of nice aftermarket exhaust is very tempting! What do you have on yours Roddy? They are also incredibly rigid for a convertible and point to point it easily the quickest car I have owned - even if it is has less power etc in theory, it delivers it so well. I don't get the old poor man's 911 thing either, I mean a lot of people refer to the Corrado as the peoples Porsche too. Anyway, dead chuffed with it and all seems well so far with the exception of a mild panic on discovery of a leak of fluid from below the car (front) last night. Turns out it is just from the air-con condesation and that they all do it.

Not posted here in ages :) To non-boxster fans, I see where you coming from as I wasn't ever overly keen until I actually drove one and then it all made sense. You are quite right about the RMS concern Roddy but I checked this out first and made sure that my warranty covered it completely. They said they had made several claims and were happy letting OPCs sort it as well with bills in the region of £1000 to do so. Also checked and its about as good as I can get for non-OPC as it covers clutch, all rads, air-con, abs, cat etc... Still got a private plate on ATM but that should be coming off soon. Also FWIW, the car was 500 less than quoted and here is the options list: IXMY - Roll-Over Bar In Arctic Silver XPA - Thicker Sports steering Wheels X97 - Aluminium/leather shift knob X98 - Aluminium/leather parking break handle M030 - Sport Chassis (lowered suspension, stiffer springs & shocks) M197 - Stronger Battery M321 - Radio "Porsche Cr-22" M375 - Sportseat,Backrest Shell,Left M376 - Sportseat,Backrest Shell,Right M441 - Prepared For Radio M454 - Automatic Speed Control M476 - Porsche Stability Management (PSM) M490 - -Mj 01 Sound System M502 - Valmet Production - Uusikaupunki in Finland M567 - Windshield Tinted,Upper Part Darker Colored M571 - Activated Charcoal Filter M573 - Air Conditioner M584 - Storage Box M660 - OBD2 M689 - Preparation Of Cd-Changer M981 - Leather Equipment (Doors) M983 - Leather Seats It has also had a rear windshield added at some point thankfully. I think that is them all de-coded correctly. Cheers :)

The torque almost rises proportionally to the BHP with mods - see here for some examples if interested: http://toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde ... 95&hl=dyno So even a standard one has a good lot more torque than a VR.
-
The engines are torquey - that's the thing about them, it's not just BHP. They are also incredibly responsive to drive and spin up really quick. As for the 100ron thing - you can only run them on Optimax/Ultimate but I gues most people are the same here - especially with tuned G60s. The quoted power figures are also known to be very conservative for once and as said - a few breathing mods will see them begin to rise significantly. As people say - it's the image problem that lets them down. You won't get anything else as capable for the money though in terms of a proper sports car. The weird 'engrish' has ""Man in Dandism New Rich and Sports" on the mats and then the rear window is like this: http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/gallery ... ct0064.jpg This is only on very few of the imports though and obviously the first thing to come off :D Crazy Japs :)

The Tubbys have raised engine vents whereas the N/As have flat ones. The Mk2 Rev1/2 has 220Bhp standard and Rev3/4/5 have 245Bhp. US spec turbos have 200bhp. They are very easily modified to give between 260-300 bhp with chips/downpipes.induction/more boost etc... Most owners will have done these mods as well... The 3SGTE engine is really decent and gives a heap of torque to match the power. A standard Rev2 will quite easily outrun a standard VR be it 0-60 / 0-100 or 100+ They give a stock quarter mile of 13.x and 0-60 is nearer 5 than 6 and they don't tail off like Scoobys - they go on to a good 155+ I used to have one till not so long ago and really loved it for the handling - just not so sure on the looks of them. Totally reliable though and great fun - mine should have been good for 265-285bhp which was actually extremely usable as it had the rare options of LSD and TRC. So...moral of the story - if you were in a valver and it didn't get away very rapidly - it wasn't a tubby :)

To be honest - although people say the most important thing is a charger rebuild - there are far more things to worry about. A rebuild is not *that* expensive compared to new suspension/brakes/mounts/bushes etc... All corrados are old now and if these haven't been done then will chew a hole in your wallet quite happily. Check out all these as well :)

I have driven an S4 - my mate used to have one. They are incredibly comfy and well put together as you would expect. The power is effortless with no lag and it can obviously be planted down with no wheelspin. I felt that although it handled well, as standard I was very aware of its weight and size on corners which didnt inspire as much confidence as either the corrado or mr2 - but it was still decent. I guess the main thing that impresses is the amount of torque - it felt like it would still accelerate at the same rate going up a cliff and the keep on pulling. They are very refined though and not a sporty car as such but I would definitely have one had the M3 not been invented.

They are meant to be good for 80mph+ so to scale they are obviously hugely more powerful. I'll try and post some more vids and info later

Check this one go! :) http://www.hpieurope.com/embed-video.ph ... videoID=84 That's fappin hilarious

How cool is this! It's even got a FMIC 8) And a single turbo version:

You probably need a re-circ BOV instead of vent to atmos as it will mess up with the unmetered air when it vents I imagine? Mine runs rich for a split second with a BOV but it does give nice pops as the fuel ignites :)

Yeah TT is a total hairdresser car! /me looks at sig.....doh :D:D

Main point to look out for is unwanted attention from 40yr year old lonely housewives :)
