ah dam, and mine was registered in december 05! his defo feels a fair bit quicker then mine, in fact, its one of the quickest 4 cylinder diesels out there.
-
I have one of these as a company car now, good build quality, fit and finish. I have the late 05 estate with 6 speed box. Colleagues are trying to make out it's a prestige car, I mean it's a good car but it's not up to mercedes/bmw standard. Anyway, went out in the boss's fully loaded 07 one today, he's one of the few people that drive faster then me, lol, there were a couple of moments i really thought we would crash, notably coming off the M25 to the M23 north bound at over 110 round that long right hand bend that turns in to a left hand bend, just on the left hand bend he almost lost it, the car started to understeer with that heavy engine up front. He reckons mine is the 180 version, but im not sure? And anyone know where i can get a good off the shelf chip for a good price? cheers guys.

Personally I would look at just walking for another year and then getting a really nice motor outright as tempting as it is to take the loan.

Hey, been a while, dam if I had enough cash I would have that car back in a second! My gf was chewing my ear off about it and my bank balance was deteriorating tho, lol. I don't regret a second of it tho. Have got a MK2 Focus at the moment, have driven the car hard and have to say it's a pretty good car, grip and ride quality are very good and I've driven the car hard, It's a very capable car but not half as fun as the VR. How long do you think you will keep my old girl for then? hehe.

Hey Neil, just saw this thread, bought back a lot of memories in that car, some bad but the good outweighed them, the noise I remember as being pretty special but it's the general feel too.
-
As Im changing jobs, Im giving the Focus back and just looking for a cheap run about, less than £500. My original short list was MK3 Golf TDI Honda Civic Mazda 323 But I don't really think I can stretch to that so at the moment I have my eye in a Clio 1.2 or a Citroen ZX TD on ebay... Any ideas? :D

Has to be my old 205 1.9 GTI, Maybe it was just being 19 years old and having that car at the time, full of testosterone and all that, it had piper cam, exhaust system and air filter, it kind of sounded a bit like an Impreza, bit chavvy but very nice all the same. 175bhp per tonne roughly so more than a standard VR. And I drove it like a lunatic, never let me down except for the damn alarm- TOAD AI606. I don't think I first spotted a Corrado til about 95, but I knew I had to have one, but it was back to the future which lead me to it originally, thinking a delorean was a Scirocco! LOL. Then having a MK2 Golf GTI 16V was a different experience, not as much fun as my 205 but just as lovely all the same. If I come in to some money tho I think I will probably get a 993 Turbo, or maybe even a Supercharged VR...

I think it looks good, the car would look better with bigger wheels tho but maybe VW are wanting it to be more of a tourer and so keep the ride quality good. But it seems to be the trend that cars bodies are growing faster then there wheels- just look at the new 3 series. Will be interesting to see how it fairs against the Mondeo/Vectra VXR/Mazda 6 MPS.

having one of those weeks! (thinking of selling my vr!)

I have to agree I think a Bora TDI would be a good choice, I really did love the VR I had but in the end I got so pi**ed off with it I was actually happy just to get rid of it, for everyday practical driving the 6 speed Bora sounds like a good choice, particularly if you re-map it. -
Hey Neil, Hope the VR is running alright? I haven't driven any other VR's so have nothing to compare to but I knew there was something up with the suspension and remember mentioning to you when you picked it up, I have been told it might just be the top mounts but I would of thought if your going to do them then you might aswell just put new springs and shocks aswell as I dont know how old the suspension on the car is... And what plans have you for the exhaust? Supersprint? Sam

Was a very good show, I have thought long and hard about my favourite, probably too long about it, lol...I can never decide, cheryl is lovely but just looks like the most pikiest one..have met sarah harding, she is very pretty, very petite...and for some reason Im strangely attracted to the ginger one...hehe... Changing the subject, Plato was ragging that 911 alright, looked like so much fun

I don't think they would change your leads if you take your car to a garage for a regular service, so no, it's bit more then a service...
-
not sure about discs and rotars, they may be ok, bu I had a problem with fitting brake pads when the caliper was a patenet part..
-
I would change all the plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotar arm and fuel and air filter and change the oil and filter too, that will definitley improve performance
-
i think it must be mechanical, ie the abs rotars asmentioned, you might aswell check the discs/pads and calipers while your there....best to plug into vag-com to be double sure tho..i just had the rotars done, rear ones are about 8 quid each, sensors cost a lot more tho....and i think it is best to make sure you use vag parts as the patent parts arent all compatible with vag ones, ie calipers and discs...
