Thanks for the info, I'll get the kit and see whether my manual skills are up to basic mechanics. Main dealer of GPC is the one here, right - http://www.gpcvwaudi.com/. Thanks.

'Roof gurus... I have what I hope is a simple problem with my sunroof.... can you help? Basically, it rocks fine, and slides back fine. However, 5 times out of 10, when I try and slide the roof closed, it does not move and I have to manually crank it. When this happens, the close button just emits a single click, and there's no action. What can I try? Thanks, CC '94 Green VR6

Hi, Some enterprising bastards have stolen my fog / indicator light units ('94 VR6). After some quick searching, I found out why - they're not cheap to replace. To get an MOT, I had a local (dodgy - "Do you want to pay V.A.T. on this?") garage replace the indicators, but it's not the proper job. Take a look at the picture - can you advise on what I need to buy and where to order it? I've seen the add for the new fog lenses, but I think I need more than that.... Cheers, Nik p.s. I can barely operate a screwdriver, so answers in laymans terms pls. climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfCorrado 001.jpg[/attachment:ff052] 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfCorrado 002.jpg[/attachment:ff052] Corrado 003.jpg[/attachment:ff052]

Steam rising in traffic.. I suspect something's wrong....
CharlieC replied to CharlieC's topic in Engine Bay
Ok, so here's the update. Took it to the stealers on Tuesday am. By end of day they're on the phone telling me they can't recreate the problem. "Just sit in it with the engine running" I tell them. By Wednesday they've managed to do this, steam pouring out of the front. I get call, this time "There's no leak. It's overheating. We don't what's wrong. The MASTER TECHNICIAN will be looking at it tomorrow." Wow, sounds like something out of Star Wars. So, they then decide there is a leak - no shit Sherlock. It's the flange on the radiator. They replace it. They call me back "It's still overheating, there's a hole in the radiator". By now I'm believing nothing they say. Oh, and they can't provide a rad until end of Feb 2006. These muppets really take the piss. Soooooo, now I've got to go pick up a crook car and have bugger all idea about what to do. I can't even get it to Stealth as I'm scared to death of doing her an injury. I will fill the rad, and try and see where the steam's coming from.... In the event that it is the rad, what's the deal with this sealant stuff you can pour in top fill small holes? -
Hi, I recently started seeing pretty little puffs of steam coming from the bonnet of my VR6. Now, I know less than most high school girls about cars, but reckon this is not a good sign. The steam has got worse, especially in traffic, and my coolant light recently started flashing - I've not driven the C since this happened yesterday. I've looked and the coolant level is low. I can't remember the last time I heard the fan running, which makes me think it's broke. 15 mins after I've parked up, the fan's not been on, but I can hear a squishing noise, which I'm guessing could be the coolant pump. Now, before I head to the Stealers to hand over my life savings, is there anything I can do to check out he problem? I've pulled the fuses out and checked 13 and 19, which are fine. Given my total lack of mecahnic skills, I can't think of anything else to check? Can anyone tell me what I can do? Cheers, Nik

Yeah, I've used Stealth before, but can't get booked in at such short notice - I need to book in for this Saturday.

Hi, I've got some serious steering problems going on when accelerating and decelerating. It's actually pretty scary at high speed. So I want to get a 4 wheel aligment done, and the bushes checked out too. Anyone know a decent place to get this done around the Stratford on Avon area? Cheers.
-
Only when used in the context of bushes.
-
Dick in a top hat, eh? Nice expression! Thanks for the tip - I will have a crack at it this weekend.
-
Being as knowledgeable about cars as most children are about international finance, how would I go about checking the bushes?
-
I haven't done it before - I take it I don't need anywhere VW specific...

Hi, I've got what I think is a wheel alignment problem. Basically, if I accelerate hard, and tehn ease off, the steering wheel tries to turn... can be scary at high speeds, and no doubt bad for my C. I reckon I need 4 wheel laser alignment - anyone know a good place to get this done in South London, preferrably Battersea way? Cheers Nik

OK, I need to get up to speed with this stuff - apologies. I've got a 1994 VR6, no engine mods. Not sure exactly where the noise is coming from, but seems to be underneath the car (centrally), rather that the engine / rear. I'm taking it to Stealth next week, so will have a look at the heat shield when it's up on the ramp.

A fair point, well made. I tell you what - in the interest of fairness, science and politics, I will use AMD for my next service / upgrade / tune / whatever, and compare the two. With any luck they'll both do the business.
