  1. 1995 VW Corrado VR6 for Sale

    Moonlight Blue

    100,000 miles

    Completely original and unmodified

MOT until end of Sept 2015

    Currently SORN

Full VW dealership and specialist service history with 17 stamps in the service book.

I have owned the car since 2007 and it has been exclusively serviced and looked after by The Phirm in Surrey during my ownership. The car has been used purely as a weekend car and has only covered around 7000 miles in my 7 years of ownership. Three previous owners. The lady I bought the car from had owned it since 2001.

Black cloth interior which is in extremely good condition with some minor creasing to the drivers bolsters only, the rest of the interior is unmarked and in virtually as new condition. First aid kit present but warning triangle missing unfortunately.

Nearly all electrics work as they should including the sunroof which still tilts and slides, the spoiler and windows. The only fault is the drivers side electric mirror which has recently stopped working. Blower works on all directional settings and all fan settings except the first.

The bodywork is in good condition for its age but is suffering from rust in places, including a patch about 50p size on the tailgate at the rear window seal, and also on the leading edge of the roof where it meets the windscreen. There are also a few other very minor spots of corrosion in other places, a couple of scuff marks and small dent (50p size) in the passenger door. Despite this the car is still very presentable and the paintwork has a deep shine when washed.

Original Speedline wheels are fitted which are also suffering from corrosion in places but again look very presentable when cleaned up.

The mileage of the car as stated above is approx. 100,000 however at around 98,800 miles the clocks on the car stopped working. After investigation / several discussions with the guys at the Phirm it was concluded that the clocks could not be repaired so they were replaced with a second hand set showing an indicated 129000 miles. The clock change is fully documented and stamped in the service book by The Phirm.

I have folder full of receipts, invoices and previous MOTs for the car dating back to 2001 and totalling over ?7500 spent on maintaining the car, including one major bill from the Phirm for over ?1300 where I had them sort out several common issues including replacing brake lines and upgrading the wishbone and axle bushes to Powerflex items.

I have not had the timing chains looked at during my ownership but the engine is quiet with no chain rattle when cold.

All in all this is a very good example of an unmodified Corrado VR6 (which are becoming rare); the car drives extremely well and has a comprehensive history of maintenance.

I am selling for the usual reasons i.e. I have a growing family and mortgage; I simply cannot justify keeping and running it as a weekend toy any longer.

The car is located in the West Sussex / Surrey region.

In reflection of the rust / condition of the bodywork and the unfortunate issue with the clocks, the car is priced for sale at 2500GBP

  3. Thanks for the pics, I'm wondering how much rust mine has got under there now as there is quite a lot evident outside of the rubber trim.

Out of interest, do you need to get hold of new windscreen rubber when they change a screen, or do they supply a new one with the new windscreen? Would like to replace it anyway as it looks a bit old...

  4. Thanks for all the advice, looks like the windscreen fitters do have at least some idea what they are on about then.

I have told the bodyshop just to do the other bits of paint it's gone in for and I'm going to leave the screen until I find out more from my insurance about what would be covered.

    Cheers

  5. Interesting..

The reason I was getting the rust done is because it is lifting the outer rubber seal slightly, which I thought was allowing water in, which runs round the egde of the screen, down where the drivers side dash meets the door, and drips into the drivers footwell. So would this leak indicate that the screen is not bonded in properly? I cant see where else the water could be getting in (gutters clear, no other gaps etc...) so assumed it was this lift in the seal that was the problem.

  6. Hello all.

My VR6 is about to go into a local bodyshop for some paint, including sorting some rust on the leading edge of the roof which requires the screen to come out.

Apparently the screen fitters have said they are pretty sure they will be unable to remove the screen without breaking it and its £250 to £300 for a new one. I know removing the screen can be a hard job and clips etc... often get broken but has anyone heard of them actually breaking the screen?

    Sounds iffy to me.

I guess the other option is to source a second hand screen?

Or as I have fully comp insurance if I 'accidentally' crack the screen will they remove it and put a new one in after the roof is painted?

    Any advice much appreciated

    Cheers

  7. I bought this car in October last year after a fair bit of time spent looking, I used to own a Scirocco GTX and always wanted to upgrade to a VR6....

Thought it was about time to put some pictures up and see what people think....

She's a 95 VR with 95k on the clock, full history, 2 previous owners, cloth interior and completely standard.
