You don't have a problem.. as has been stated a million times before - these are perfectly normal temps for a standard unmodified VR6 Corrado. But you have a dodgy fan thermoswitch!
-
Check your water pump ...
-
You mean like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-GOLF-MK3-VR6-G ... 0206083997 ??
-
I think you had two faulty sensors.. but either way - fixed now..!
-
You're sure it wasn't just an excess of *water* on the brakes ... ?!
-
All VWs use the same coolant now - G12+, which has replaced both G11 and G12, iirc.
-
I had exactly this problem and it was a borderline sensor. Make sure your physical installation is good first, but you may well have another faulty wheel sensor.
-
Actually the ABS valve block on the VR6 is known to fail prematurely, so it is quite likely to be at fault. They are plentiful and cheap on the used market though, so you may as well replace it.

£350. -
Yeah, get the ECU scanned, it'll tell you if the lambda is fooked. (It's the most likely cause of such problems.) Do you have a copy of the MOT failure record? It will have two readings on it - to some extent you can figure whether it's the catalyst or it's just running over-rich because of a failed lambda from those. The white "smoke" is almost certainly just steam, which pretty much all cars emit until the exhaust is up to temperature.
-
Not sure about the other issues you're talking about, but your temp readings sound pretty normal to me.

How could that happen?! Corrosion? And how is that whenever anyone else calls the AA they get there in ten minutes, for me it's 90 minutes ... ?! -
As an aside .. Clarkson got scammed: http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2008/ja ... msandfraud

You have a faulty lambda ... The lambda reading in VAGCOM should fluctuate from about 0.8/0.9 to about 1.1 *once the car is on closed loop*, certainly at warm idle you should see it moving. This would certainly tie in with the error code you saw. The rest of your readings don't sound bonkers, so I'd concentrate on the lambda.
-
That sounds well bad..! Maybe it's slipped a cog on the timing chain?
-
Make sure the MAF and lambda sensors and the catalyst are all working right, that's how the system keeps your emissions under control in the first place. Redex won't help if this lot are screwed.
-
Perhaps he's seen a Corrado with an R32 transplant and Storm badges on the back ... ?!
-
If the replacement wheel+tyre combo are the same exterior size and the same offset as the originals, then no they won't rub. That means you need 205/40/17 tyres ... Go wider and you might have problems...
-
A Corrado would be a death trap by NCAP standards, seriously. It might be made of heavy stuff, but it's all in the wrong places. The biggest problems are in the interior. The headrests are utterly shite, you WILL have whiplash, the seatbelts are just about functional, as for side-impact protection .. you'd better hope you were in the back when it happens and the wheel takes it. Do not be under any illusions. Drive like your life depends on NOT being in an accident, because in reality it does..!
-
Can you afford to run a corrado, 1.11 per litre?

For some reason, the world was napping when OPEC formed and decided to set production rates and therefore prices internally. No other industry in this world would openly get together and prescribe the price of it's products. -
Coilpack cars only, don't think a 93K has the same MAF so, sorry, you'll have to pony up the readies..
-
Who're you calling a professional car electrician?! No idea mate, I've never done any auto electrics, I just put 2+2 together to come to a reasonable conclusion ..
-
MAF sensor? If you've a late VR GSF do them, look under the VW Sharan VR6 parts, they have them for about £60.
-
I've seen one or two on the roads, nice looking car, certainly has plenty of character.. Looks like the british love affair with Coupes is not over..
