  1. Been a while now since anyone added to this - I'm in exactly the same boat as you (were). I need to replace the ignition coil in my C 92 16V 2.0 (9A) and can't seem to find a replacement anywhere! VW don't supply them anymore and third party suppliers want to sell me the square type coil which I know is wrong.

I noticed you managed to find a suitable replacement using a coil for the KR engine Part Number: 0 221 122 399 - How long did this work for in the end? Did you have to re-fit your existing 9A ignition module as well?

    Any help would be great

just connects strait up to the 9a ignition module the same as the 9a coil. still going strong as far as i know! not got the corrado any more

    :(

The bad bits are there is some lacquer peel on the bonnet and roof, the sunroof has gone hazy where it was poorly resprayed, rust bubble around the n/s indicator on the wing. The corrado was deemed an uneconomical repair by the insurance company after an elderly lady reversed into the front bumper, the damage is minimal but i wanted a new bumper (which are not cheep genuine!) but are around about 40 quid second hand.

Other than that this is a brilliant, well maintained car that has put a smile on my face every day :) I hope it goes to a good home.

She starts first time every time and still drives beautifully with no crunching or any other nasty noises. on sale i will put a years mot and six moths tax on sale. four new tires on last MOT and all the CV boots replaced.

The bad bits are the lacquer is peeling in some places and the guys who sprayed the sunroof made a bit of a hash job so its gone cloudy. also a few parking dings and scuffs. The corrado has been deemed a cat D write off after an old lady backed into it and cracked the bumper :/ it was written off because a new bumper would have cost the insurance company £1300 to replace which is the value of the car. nothing to worry about though, you can pick up a replacement bumper for about £40 second hand on flebay.

Im looking for £1200 ono. for any further info or pictures please PM me.

    thanks,

    Dom.

  5. If you can, bridge a multimeter across the live from the battery and set it to mili amps. Then turn on the alarm and take a reading and post it up on here, imo anything above 10mili amps is too high.

if its not drawing too much current then get a new battery.

If it is drawing alot of current check the alam wires, there should be a controle box in the drivers footwell and the horn in the engine bay, if the wires are good then get a new alarm or just rip it out.

hope you get it sorted mate, good luck.

  6. Dont give up, how many wires have you got coming off the positie terminal on the battery? it wont be the headlight wires as they wont draw current untill swiched on. a comman one is check the boot light isnt staying in when you close the boot.

  7. I used a spare indicator bulb. Soldered a couple of wires to it, long enough to place the bulb in the car beside the fusebox. Any change in the light brightness was easily noticeable and gave a bit of light at the scene of operations as it were.

    Thats a good idea mate!

  8. lol oh dear. probably a drain then, i had this problem when i first got mine and i got so fed up i called an auto electrician out in the end, not cheep but worth it!

The cables under the air box had worn through and where earthing on the chassis.

check the voltage in the morning if you can and see if its low. to stop it draining just disconnect the battery before you go to bed and reconnect it in the morning for the moment.

The way to find a drain is to use a multimeter across the battery without the engine running and see if the voltage slowly drops off, you may have to sit for a while. if it does work your way from the battery disconnecting wires till the voltage stops dropping (or pay someone to do it lol)

  9. Had a bit of a break through today! :)

The stutter problem turned out to be a dodgy rotor arm, looked fine but didn't seem to work properly.

My advice would be if your c stutters under load and it seems electrical just replace everything from the coil to the plugs, saves chasing faults constantly. Either that or just hit it with a big hammer till your defiantly sure the problem won't come back, I was close!

Thanks to everyone who suggested ;)
