simeone0704 started following Changing a distributor, Car running extremely rich, fuel probs or electrical? and and 1 other

Yes its a 16v. Thanks for the help, will try it all tomorrow.

Changed plugs, dizzy, coil, leads. The car starts very well when warm and then as soon as its left over night or so it has no temp in it the car does not start. Is this because there is too much fuel in the car to start it from cold as it does not burn it off as easy? To adjust the amount of fuel, is there a 3mm al key where the fuel lines are on top of the air filter box? Cheers

Did you try this and if so did it work? Your problems seem very similar to mine and ive replaced leads, plugs, dizzy, coil, and then the problem came back! Just want it sorted now.

The headlights dont affect it. Yes the engine runs fine and does not lose any water or oil. Im not a great mechanic, will i be able to fit the water pump myself? and are there any specialist tools i will need? http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Corrado_1.8_1991/p/car-parts/car-cooling-parts-and-car-heating/cooling/water-pump-gasket/?201440111&1&6fcaf43aecb25c85c881e2413ff877a07928ea79&WATP................ Is this one ok? cheers

What would you suggest to change then?

Im based in north wales. Wrexham. Fan is running fine and there is coolant in there but it is near the minimum marker. Whats the first thing to change? Engine is a 1.8 16v. As soon as the oil temp goes above 110 it is hard to get it down.
-
If the car is standing, and being used around town, the oil temperature can reach 150 degrees, while the water temp is 110. Iif on a motorway the water temp is around 100 and oil temp around 130. What are the possible causes of this?????????? If the oil temp is constantly at 130-150, will this cause any danger to the engine?

When replacing it with the new one, does it have to be put in at the same angle and how do i check if it is in correctly?
-
Alright. its a 1.8. ill get some pics up soon haha. The wiring that connects to the dizzy is a bit flared and could do with a sort out, but the main issue i think is the part where it connects to the dizzy. It is hanging off and i think this is why its got a mind of its own and starts when it feels like it. The longer you leave it without starting the less chance of it starting. Also there is oil in the cap as i think the seals have worn down. Shall i just buy one from scrappy. What else could be the problem if its not the distributor????????? thanks

Could anyone tell me how to change the distributor. the cable which is attached to the side on mine is very loose and the car will not spark into ignition every time. Once the cable is pushed into the distributor it starts fine. Do i need a new distributor and if so how easy is it to replace? Cheers
