Corrado and Porsche are the only cars that interest me. I'd previously owned a modified G60 in 1995 and regret to this day ever selling that car. ? http://www.dubforce.net/forums/?showtopic=4258 Due to me being far to precious about this car, for many years 65 mile work commute across A and B roads, then family life, meant the G60 has pretty much sat in my garage until the last year. Epic fail as my sons would say!!!! A change of employer mean I now cycle to work and the car is only used to taxi my kids around. Total waste of the car and I'm scared someone else will ding it, scratch it, whatever. I need it replaced with a I don't care box. Alas I can't run my wifes car and 2 for me :( The BAD? Cam belt shredded some teeth!!! Stood too long and got her running without changing the belt first :( The G60 is NOT an interference fit engine, so no valves against pistons as would happen to a 16v. What it did mean is I had to statically time the engine. I'm a software engineer not a mechanic so it took me ages. Researching and the Bentley got me there in the end. Along the way I also replaced the alternator, coil, distributor and its cap, and of course a new cam belt. She's been running like this for the past year covering just over 500 miles. Goes okay but drinks fuel in town traffic, taking my kids to football training and matches :( Needs a proper dynamic tune. The cam seal now leaks oil :( List Date: 2/20/2015 Location: Gloucester, United Kingdom For more info, click here to view the original listing: 1991 Corrado G60 - Inca Blue -------------------------------------- SOLD -------------------------------------- Mobile friendly version: 1991 Corrado G60 - Inca Blue Go Mobile: Download the free Panjo iOS app now!
  3. Lots of it this lunchtime, so tried accessing page 5 of this very thread. http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=80960&page=5 Using Google Chrome v30.0.1599.66 from OSX 10.7.5, gives constant Arse for this page and lots of others on the Activity Stream. Force reload of page does not clear the fuzzy arse :( Switched to Safari v6.0.5 and it's gone from everywhere! At same time still issue with Chrome, so not time related. Very odd ...
  4. In the end I bought a refurbished unit from GSF, which was not cheap :( At least it came with a new rotor arm and a suppression cap. It's now fitted to the car, which now starts reliably! ... next up is timing. As for the original distributor ... it wouldn't rotate at all. So I soaked its base in WD40. Then set to it with a length of wood and a lump hammer, knocking it side to side. Got some movement, so then spent ages cursing it until it started to rotate. Next hardship was getting to the poxy thing to pull out! Again soaked base in WD40, applied much cursing, and eventually it lifted out. Saga ends. Next step MOT ...
  5. Went to Maplins, bought a 12v LED and made myself a "test light". As per Bentley manual, put light across coil terminals 1 & 15. Turned car over and no flicker from the LED. Then tried testing the Hall Sender. With harness connected to the distributor, pulled plug cover up. Put test light across middle pin and the outer Brown & White. Turned engine over and no flicker from LED, just constant ON. So according to Bentley manual my Hall Sender has died... Arse.
  6. Okay tried old and new combinations for dizzy cap, rotor arm, and coil with no joy :( Measured and I have correct voltage and resistance for both new and old coil, so going with shiny new coil at the moment. Hall sender harness, checked voltage on outer pins and that's correct. HT leads resistance measure fine. Next I'll make myself an LED test light to check the hall sender across its harness centre and brown/white wired terminal :( Anything else I can try or test ?
  7. Hi All I'm really stuck as what to do next, so if anyone has any advice for my probably stupid questions below then that would be massively appreciated. Thanks. Short version: G60 turns over fine but wont start. Thinking distributor as strobe shows nothing from coil. Can I test the hall sender operation somehow? Long version: Okay car's been sat in my garage for a long time, well 4'ish years. Desperately trying to get it back on the road as I've had enough of modern cars and luckily clung onto this car much to the annoyance of my wife. Over the past few weeks I've been working on it. Had it running on occasions for a short time but it would then stall. Mostly it would not start at all. Few days back I found my alternator was sucking 3.5amps which I've now replaced with a good one and current drain is correct now. Trouble is now it won't start at all! Turns over fine, yet strobe shows nothing from coil to dizzy, or dizzy to plugs. Within the past few weeks I've fitted new:- Cam belt as per a G60 thread on forum, battery, dizzy cap, rotor arm, coil, leads, alternator, ECU relay, ignition switch, oil and filter, cleaned all earth points, cleaned connectors, checked for good resistance at BTS. Added fresh fuel to the tank so it's 50/50 good and old stuff. ISV buzzes and "clicks" about once a second, so ECU okay...? Ignition on I hear a fuel pump buzz. I've loosened the distributor locking nut, but the body just wont rotate at all. It's held fast to the engine block :( What should I be looking at next ....? Is there any wiring I should be testing ? Can I somehow test the hall sender ? Is it likely that I need to replace the distributor ?
  8. Well I've fitted a refurbished Bosch alternator from my local GSF, a 90amp to replace the failed 65amp. GSF parts guy said it was the last one in their stock, van'd from Harlow. Came with regulator and pulley but was missing the suppressor. So I used the old units suppressor. Plugged all fuses and relays back in and the current drain is, according to my cheap multimeter, about 0.1 Amps. See if she'll start and run in the morning...
  9. Thanks for the reply. So as I feared, I need a new alternator :( Any recommendations of where to source one from or places to avoid ?
  10. Hi guys Need some guidance! Noticed that my alternator casing was quite warm to touch with ignition off, yet everything around it was cold; block, SC, coolant pipes. So no heat transferred from anything else. So used multimeter to read current drain .... 3.5amps! Pulled fuses out from fuse panel one at a time, no change. Then did the same for all the relays, except for fuel pump after run? and fan after run? (sat on top of fuse panel) as I couldn't see how to release them. Anyway bar those two relays all others removed and still 3.5amps drain. So next I disconnected the alternator and then it went to 0amps! Do I need a new alternator? Background; cars been laid up in my garage for "some time" :( trying to get her on the road again. Fitted new battery, coil, dizzy cap, dizzy rotor, cleaned all earths, cleaned all connectors, fresh fuel in the tank, new cam belt and set timing as per G60 timing thread. ....have yet to fit new fuel filter. Anything else I can test or try before going refurbished alternator ? Had my fling with new cars and now desperate to get back in a G60.
  11. Hi Henny Totally understand your reasoning and like the choice of car :) My G60 has been laid up in the garage, to the great annoyance of my wife, for far too long. Still trying to side-step my reality that it needs to be sold :( Chris

    G60 cam belt slipped ...

Can see bugger all through the spark plug holes! :( From what I can see, there's no obvious damage to the piston. Outer pistons are at/near the bottom of their stroke. Inner pistons at/near top of their stroke ... piston 2 I can see a valve seat protruding down, whereas cannot on piston 3...? I'll remove the old belt and see what happens when turning it by hand, and go from there. Thanks for the links on the timing setting!

    G60 cam belt slipped ...

True, but an aftermarket cam might change that, depending on lift/duration.. :? I can never remember if the PG is interference fit or not :( My fear is it became interference fit after the cam ... My kids are in bed now, so now I can visit the garage and remove the plugs and take a peek at the pistons!!
  14. Numpty Alert! Hi My G60 cam belt has jumped a "few" teeth at idle, after I revived it from a *very* long slumber. Lesson learned about aged cam belts! :( Will the valves have hit? It's running a Newmann 268/276 cam if that makes a difference. What damage can I expect from this worst case :( Chris
  15. Wilwood 4pots are available for the G60 4 stud and use a 280mm disc I think, should fit inside 15's ... worth a look?
