    spark plug leads

Hi there, For many years VW have supplied their plug leads with metal shrouds over the spark plug ends. Can anyone tell me if the shrouds have a definite purpose, like a sort of Farady cage to avoid interference, or just a recognizable trademark. Most other manufacturers seem to manage without them. Cheers
  2. Hi, I don't think you could do better than to buy a set of Magnacor leads. If you order them through the British distributor (no pun intended) you'll even get a discount for being in the forum. They are the best produced and will last very well. No water ingress, no hassle. - and they are available in red! cheers, vcl
  3. Borla Exhausts have a vwry good name for longevity, but I think we are talking in very different price leagues. I would rather have a practical exhaust which does its job well, but would not bring on the tears if it was totalled in one of the potholes kindly supplied to us motorists by the government and the local authorities. I understand in Wiltshire it would be cheaper to excavate the road down to the level of the potholes than to fill the holes. - Happy motoring in 2014.
  4. Magnacore leads without a doubt. Very well made. 'Phone the company themselves and get a discount. Years of great service!
  5. A year ago Infinity Exhausts fitted a no-nonsense Stainless system on my 8 valve. They asked me how loud and what tailpipe I wanted. I told them I wanted a sporty system, but no boom! I got a single tailpipe, nice burble, and a discount bringing the price to £300 fitted,(probably a few quid more now). Can't praise the company highly enough.

    Rack bush size

Hi, I went to buy a power steering rack bush for my 8v corrado. VW don't supply them any more, and can't tell me the width I should buy. Anyone know offhand whether the bush should be 15mm or 18mm. Thanks for your time vcl

    Clutch Pedal

The clutch pedal on my 8v Corrado seems to be higher than it should be, ie it is not in line with the brake pedal. Is this normal? I remember that the Mk2 Golf GTI had a plastic pedal stop, is there anything similar on the Corrado? vcl

    Longlife Exhausts

Just like to thank Bristol Baron for recommending Infinity Exhausts. Looked in on them on Friday and was impressed. Clean, tidy, and not a pre-formed bend in the shop! Very helpful staff. Went back today and had my new system fitted. Very neat welds, great sound (quiet, but with a burble). Engine seems to breath easier, will confirm that after rolling road tune-up in January. Oh! also great value for money. Happy to recommend them to anybody. vcl

    Longlife Exhausts

Hi there, I've just had a quote of £329 inclusive of vat and fitting for a stainless steel exhaust. The make is Longlife and the agent is Neil Handbury Racing, in Taunton. Seems like a good price. Has anyone had experience of the manufacturers or the installers? Cheers

    Recaro Subframes

Hi there, I have a pair of Pole Position Recaro's and the only thing separating me and comfort is the lack of a couple of subframes. If you have a pair for sale, my backside will be most grateful. pm please. Cheers, vcl
  15. Say what you like about CAT 1 all singing all dancing alarms, but some of us have had bad luck with electrics. The last time I bought an alarm, I asked the installer to remove the old wiring. When I collected the car, I was given the discarded parts and wires - they filled a bucket! I would really rather have a simple, but top quality immobiliser. Unfortunately, I don't know if Insurance Companies will accept a CAT 2. on a Corrado. Has anybody been refused insurance for only having a CAT 2?
