theRuler 0 Posted October 6, 2004 I got a 94 VR6, with light grey cloth interior it was getting a bit grubby . . . so took the front seats out (one at a time) and cut off all of the little metal clips holding the material on, withdrew the metal rods (fiddly) and put all the bits in the washing machine. came out looking mint. for reassembly, use small cable ties, that way you can get them all in place (not tight) then tighten them all up individually pulling it all tight again. while the front seats are out, you get plenty of room to give it all a good clean (hoover the baccy from all the corners  ). i did the back seats too. if you do this, dont force-dry the material - let it dry slowly. in fact try and rebuild the seats just before its all fully dry. this will take freakin' hours to do, but believe me its well worth it!!! vwdubs 0 Posted October 6, 2004 If you do this do not use a high heat, just in case someone puts theirs in at 70deg and it then fits the corgy cars available on ebay

dinkus 10 Posted October 6, 2004 It's a very tempting idea as the Autoglym interior shampoo didn't shift all the gunk on my Recaros :( Sounds like a bit of a mission to say the least tho...
theRuler 0 Posted October 6, 2004 yeh wash em on 40! forgot to say that. on my washing machine its the "daily wash" setting. in fact its the only one i use. if you are daunted by it, just do the passenger seat, or even just the base of the seat. if it works good (it should!) it will motivate you to making it all look dope. Hmm that might be worth a crack, the Autoglym stuff was supposed to be really good, but I'm not wildly impressed. I may give it another go first though.
