crazymarcel 0 Posted October 14, 2004 your torque plot starts earlier than mine - mine only kicks off at 3k. they are 4 plots overlaid btw That'll be why then, excuse my stupidity
pablo_vr6 0 Posted October 14, 2004 Crazymarcel, what mods have you?
pablo_vr6 0 Posted October 14, 2004 been doing some comparisons to Crazymarcels bhp: 3k 167bhp vs 162bhp -- OK 4k 188bhp vs 183bhp -- OK 5k 193bhp vs 185bhp -- NOT SO OK torque: 3k 90lbft vs 90lbft -- OK 4k 140lbft vs 140lbft -- OK 5k 190lbft vs 170lbft -- NOT SO OK however now the anomoly seems to be in the 5-6k region. marcels keeps rising whereas both mine and mikes tail off quite noticably. now Im thinking my car is fine and Mikes mods just work REALLY well together but it would seem we both have some issues up at the top end which is why our peak is lower than marcels. of course all this depends on the mods marcel has done. crazymarcel 0 Posted October 14, 2004 I have only got a magnex exhaust, BMC filter and a chip of some sort., It was RR just after stealth had worked there magic not sure if its still the same, i guess the east anglian rr day will show all.
pablo_vr6 0 Posted October 14, 2004 i wonder is the chip helping out at the top end?
dr_mat 0 Posted October 14, 2004 That is a WEIRD torque curve.. The little dip from 2500 -> 3000 rpm doesn't sit right. Who ever saw a VR6 with more torque at 2000 rpm than at 4000? Crazy. As for the "before" plots - there was something seriously wrong with your engine to be pulling only 170 lbft on a standard VR6 - and again, you've got this really weird peak below 3k rpm. That just doesn't match anything I've ever seen.
pablo_vr6 0 Posted October 14, 2004 the RR guy said to ignore that - he gave a reason but I cant remember what it is
dr_mat 0 Posted October 14, 2004 Ok, so how do you trust the rest of the plot if that part is clearly wrong? You're looking at the torque above 3000 rpm then? Or is it accurate above 4k and not below? I honestly think you're chasing ghosts mate, nailing plates to the wall, sticking fog to the floor. Whatever. I have NEVER heard of a VR6 (even Schricked) showing 195 lbft at 2700 rpm.
pablo_vr6 0 Posted October 14, 2004 he said to ignore the little peak at the start but the rest is ok. the 195lbft is mikes btw - same road same day etc.

With the schrick peak torque should be 3700rpm. Without it it should be at 4400rpm.. Save your time and money. If you're still smarting get it checked at another rolling road (one that doesn't have that "little peak at the start" messing things up.
