New top mount ok?

Recommended Posts

Hey peeps,

Recently had an interim service and MOT. Failed the MOT owing to too much play in the NSF top mount. Said mount was replaced and MOT passed.

The question - rather than the usual dull thump when going over nasty potloles and drains, that corner of the car seems to be making much more noise. It's not quite a bang or a crash, but it's a noise I'm not used to hearing...

Has someone made a boo-boo or have I just had the worn ones on for too long :?:

Also, should they have changed them both, seems a bit odd only doing the one side...

(front end control and turn-in is muchos improved though, so it's not all bad )

Cheers,

LvP.

they may have installed the mount using an air ratchet to screw the top plate on, this vibrates the strut around and loosens off the funny shaped nut below that seats the shock to the mount and bearings in the mount,, undo the 22mm nut on top of the mount take off the plate and check to see if the funny shaped nut/ shim is done up properly,, as with this loose it will rattle about allot,
