fan keeps engine too cold.

Recommended Posts

my radiator fan starts working way before engine is at normal temp. and it wont let it reach 80 (which is normal temp), why is that, I recently had some idling problems and I noticed that when I disconnected the fan thermo switch and let the tempreture go up to 80 the idle was all fine. :?:

try fitting a thermostat first.

the water doesn't even go around the rad until it'a at 90 degress. if yors does you have a thermostat fault. i.e. it's stuck oppen, or not even there.

I was told by a garage I used a lot when I owned a 16 valver that there are 2 possible thermostats listed for my car which operate at different temperatures. It was a while back now so I can't shed much more light on that, sorry :( .

Worth checking out though. Beware of labour costs for changing a thermostat, apparently there a right pig to access.
