Short Shift Kit...again.

Recommended Posts

If I had a new modified shift assy to replace the standard one then is it just a case of unbolting the holding plate, removing the side to side rod then removing the cotter pin to release the cable?

Refit in reverse.

I have looked at the dieselgeeks website that mentions removing a portion at the front of the tunnel hole.

Is this necessary to remove the side to side rod?

Has anybody added the 8mm bolts that they also mention?

I've just recently removed one and the removal steps sound about right off top of my head.

As for removing a portion of the tunnel hole I'm not sure because the gear shift box was removed from the car first.

Yes you have to remove the side to side rod.

The whole assembly feels pretty secure without the two extra screws.

I did this with a view to modifying and supplying these short shifters.
