Earth Cables

Hello,

I need/want to replace some of the Earth cables on my Golf Gti 8V, I would like to know what kind of Cable to use and where to get it from. (Halfords)

 

I did read on the Vortex about a guy who made up a set for is VR6 and he used 2-gauge car audio power cable to good effect, is this wise?

have used car audio cable before for earths - perfectly fine. I did a battery relocation to boot in my old rover turbo using 4gauge cable too.

got 5m of 2 gauge to use after i sold my amp and head unit.

Halfords sell some earth straps ready made at different lengths. Might be of some use to you.

 

Otherwise agreed on the Audio power cable. If using that route, solder on some gold ends and also heatshrink them. No more corrosion probs.

I am gonna do this on the Golf and use it as a guinea pig, and then do the same for the VR6- but there are loads more on that motor.
