Bonnet Won't Open

Recommended Posts

Has any body else had problems with their bonnet not being able to open, cause this has happened to me twice now.

Have replaced the cable and release handle once already and now it has happened again.

Getting the bonnet open is a right pain in the arse. :x

Is it that the release mech isn't releasing the bonnet properly so that you can't get your hand in (ooer) to open it?

Or is it the actual mechanism on the bonnet, rather than the drivers side release?

Mine wouldn't open on one side so fiddle with the spring and greased it up and haven't had any more probs with it :)

try pushing down the bonnet near where the springs are located, this happened to my mate, we could only get one side open which was the drivers side, then the AA came along and simply pushed down on t he bonnet and it opened.

Just make sure you havent left a cap off or that there is anything in the way when you get it open. The problem surely must be the release mech if you have put a new cable in and greased the springs etc?

Sounds like you need to readjust the end clamps on the cable; so they will move the catch levers open wider when the handle is pulled.

what had happened was the tiny little retaining clip that goes between the outer release cable and attaches to the handle, had snapped.

So over the weekend have made a new bracket so this will never happen again. :D
