Bora Bora 0 Posted November 13, 2004 Took my car to get the blowing exhaust looked at today and it needs a new centre pipe. The bloke in the garage asked if he could give the car a free safety check. After only owning it for about 6 weeks, I thought it would be a good idea. Anyway, I'll get to the point! My car needs a new ball joint on the drivers side. Do they these need replacing just down to wear, tear and mileage or could there be a problem else where?? He has quoted £40 inc labour to sort it out.Not bad I think????
dr_mat 0 Posted November 13, 2004 Not a bad price at all. Yes, wear and tear. How many miles has your car got on it now? The car *may* have been kerbed on the driver's side to provoke more wear on the drivers joint than the passenger one, but most likely the passenger one got replaced previously (it's the one that takes the most wear, normally). dr_mat 0 Posted November 13, 2004 Well that's a bit short miles for a BJ, but it's certainly not unheard of. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Bora Bora 0 Posted November 16, 2004 Had the new one fitted today. Can't believe the difference! Corners like its on rails now! A repair discovered by chance and £17.80 (genuine VAG one) well spent!
