goodridge 0 Posted November 30, 2004 I've recently been reading loads of threads about the benefits of fiiting an oil coller to the G60 and was wondering if the Mk1 GTI item a) fits, and b) is actually up to the job. h100vw 0 Posted November 30, 2004 The oil cooler on a mk1 GTI was originally designed to cool a warmed up Beetle. It was of marginal use on a MK1 with 112BHP. Please draw your own conclusions as to whether it would be much good on a G60 with 160+. Basically it' s too small and the Tstat opens at 100 degrees I think. Much better to have a proper oil cooler, any of the specialists on here will advise/supply a kit for you. g-man and 16VG60. 16VG60 0 Posted November 30, 2004 The Mk1 oil cooler is sadly not compatible with the Corrado G60 install mainly due to general configuration and installation probs. The idea of an oil to air cooler was a much better concept than the woeful offerings as standard on the G60' even if it was found to be a little wanting on the EG engines . The Stat on the MK1 was set to start opening at 110 deg C and fully open at 125 deg C, so not at all ideal for our needs. I offer an oil cooler kit inclusive of a thermostatic sandwich plate, set to open at 70 deg C, for £145 plus P&P and can offer full installation service if required.
