robbo101 0 Posted January 12, 2005 Hello again, After narrowing down to my fuel pump being at fault I have tried removing it. I have refered to post Fitting fuel pump I have removed the locking ring and moved the cap out the way but i cannot remove the pump. I have tried twisting it both way but it will not budge. is there anything else I need to do. Also does it unlock anticlockwise as i would have thought. Should I drain the tank as currently there is 3/4 in there making it very cold on the hand this time of year. Cheers Robbo
Scruffythefirst 0 Posted January 12, 2005 Its an arse to do, it really is. I attempted dinkus' and got nowhere. One of the few jobs I couldn't do :( Mind you it did have some fuel in it and was, as you say, bloody freezing.....
2cc 0 Posted January 12, 2005 Think I remember seeing an article in the sprinter about that - if you were a ccgb member I could look it up and tell you
Joe M 0 Posted January 12, 2005 Twist it anti clockwise, it will eventually go with some effort.
dinkus 10 Posted January 12, 2005 Twist it anti clockwise, it will eventually go with lots of effort. ;) And careful not to bend the float arm too...
Joe M 0 Posted January 12, 2005 Forgot to mention to remove that first, it just clips out.
bighairymuppet 0 Posted January 13, 2005 emmm when removing mine it was just turn it anticlockwise (you can grip the hose connectors to do this) and a little(and i mean a little downard pressure. then its just sorta expands up because of the spring (at least on a 16v it does) , the pumps in at a slight angle (assume to do with the shape of the tank) so it was a bit weird but other than taht relatively simple. Just watch your hosepipes are out of the way to avoid them dripping any fuel.
