dr_mat 0 Posted February 5, 2005 Quite possibly it's the cam timing sensor. Or it could be the engine timing sensor. Or even the gearbox output shaft speed sensor.. It's definitely some sort of speed sensor, just which one... Do you have a part number...??
oxfordpaul 0 Posted February 5, 2005 I think it's the engine speed sensor and is located at the front lower right hand side of the engine. AMD replace mine as it was misfiring really badly - perfect now. It cost around £140 so not cheap!

Ice White Socks 0 Posted February 6, 2005 I think the Cam Position Sensor is called the Impulse sensor- or thats what I had to ask the dealer for. Its part number 021 907 601A. Dead easy to find. Take off the plastic cover that lies over the coil pack (so thats the two spline bolts on the top, and one round the back side), the sensor sits above the coil pack and is held on by one allen bolt. I know this cos I just changed mine the weekend cos its been down on power for the last few weeks- fook me I haven't smiled so much for weeks when I took it for a drive- the difference it makes is just unbelievable.. anyway comes to about £40 from the stealer :D
